Directions to Drakes Estero
The following are directions to our launch site at
Drakes Bay Oyster Company
Have a safe and enjoyable drive!

From San Francisco and the East Bay
- From Highway 101 North or the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge, take the Sir Francis Drake Blvd exit.
- Travel west on Sir Francis Drake for approximately 21 miles to the junction with Highway 1 in Olema.
- Sir Francis Drake Blvd. dead ends into Highway 1 in Olema.
- On this lovely drive you will pass through Larkspur, San Anselmo, Fairfax, San Geronimo, Lagunitas, and wind through the redwoods in Samuel P. Taylor State Park.
- In Olema turn right (north) on Highway 1 and drive 1/4 mile to Bear Valley Road.
- There is a sign for the Point Reyes Seashore Visitor Center on the right.
- Turn left onto Bear Valley Road.
- Drive 2.5 miles to the stop sign where Bear Valley Road dead ends into Sir Francis Drake Blvd.
- Turn left onto Sir Francis Drake Blvd.
- Drive through the towns of Inverness Park and Inverness. (Watch your speed!)
- Approximately 4 miles past Inverness you will see the sign for Drake’s Bay Oyster Company on your left.
- Turn left into their driveway and follow it to the small parking lot.
You will see the trailer and our guides waiting for you.
- It takes about 1.25 hours from Highway 101 & Sir Francis Drake to our meeting spot and about 1.5 hours from the Golden Gate Bridge
From Novato
- From Highway 101 in Novato, take the San Marin Drive exit. Travel west 2 miles to Novato Blvd.
San Marin High School will be on your right.
- Turn right onto Novato Blvd. Drive approximately 7 miles to the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.
Novato Blvd. dead ends into the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.
- Turn left (west) onto the Point Reyes – Petaluma Road.
- Travel southwest for about 7 miles to the junction with Platform Bridge Road.
- Turn right over the bridge to stay on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.
- Continue west for about 3 miles to the junction with California Highway 1.
The Point Reyes - Petaluma Road dead ends into Highway 1.
- Turn left on Highway 1 and travel through the town of Point Reyes Station to Sir Francis Drake Blvd.
Sir Francis Drake Blvd. will be on your right just after the little green bridge.
- Turn right onto Sir Francis Drake Blvd.
- Drive through the towns of Inverness Park and Inverness. (Watch your speed!)
- Approximately 4 miles past Inverness you will see the sign for Drake’s Bay Oyster Company on your left.
- Turn left into their driveway and follow it to the small parking lot.

- It takes about 1 hour from Highway 101 in Novato to our meeting spot.
From Sonoma County & Petaluma
- From Highway 101 in Petaluma, take the East Washington exit.
- Follow East Washington to Petaluma Blvd and turn left (south) onto Petaluma Blvd.
- Turn right (west) on D Street and drive for about 15.5 miles.
- D Street becomes Point Reyes-Petaluma Road at the edge of town.
- You will pass Novato Blvd. and Nicasio Reservoir.
- Turn right over the bridge to stay on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.
- Continue west for about 3 miles to the junction with California Highway 1.
The Point Reyes - Petaluma Road dead ends into Highway 1.
- Turn left on Highway 1 and travel through the town of Point Reyes Station to Sir Francis Drake Blvd.
Sir Francis Drake Blvd. will be on your right just after the little green bridge.
- Turn right onto Sir Francis Drake Blvd.
- Drive through the towns of Inverness Park and Inverness. (Watch your speed!)
