Directions to Miller County Park

Tomales Bay

The following are directions to Miller County Park, aka Nick’s Cove.
Have a safe and enjoyable drive!

*Please Do Not use MapQuest or GoogleMaps as they are unreliable for this area*

From San Francisco and the East Bay

  1. From Highway 101 North or the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge take the Sir Francis Drake Blvd exit.
  2. Travel west on Sir Francis Drake for approximately 21 miles to the junction with Highway 1 in Olema.
    • Sir Francis Drake Blvd. dead ends into Highway 1 in Olema.
    • On this lovely drive you will pass through Larkspur, San Anselmo, Fairfax, San Geronimo, Lagunitas, and wind through the redwoods in Samuel P. Taylor State Park.
  3. In Olema turn right (north) on Highway 1 and drive 2 miles to the town of Point Reyes Station.
  4. Follow Highway 1 through Point Reyes and stay on Highway 1 North for approximately 9.5 miles to the town of Marshall.
    •  You will pass by the Marshall Boat Works.
  5. Approximately 3 miles past Marshall you will see the sign for Miller Park & the entrance on your left.
  6. Turn left into the parking lot.
    • There is a $5 parking fee.
  7. Drive to the far end of the parking lot, away from the boat ramp.
    •  You will see the trailer and our guides waiting for you.
  8. It takes about 1.5 hours from the Golden Gate Bridge to the parking lot.

 From Novato

  1. From Highway 101 in Novato take the San Marin Drive exit. Travel west 2 miles to Novato Blvd.
    • Novato High School will be on your right.
  2. Turn right onto Novato Blvd. Drive approximately 7 miles to the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.
    • Novato Blvd. dead ends into the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.
  3. Turn left (west) onto the Point Reyes – Petaluma Road.
  4. Travel southwest for about 7 miles to the junction with Platform Bridge Road.
  5. Turn right over the bridge to stay on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.
  6. Continue west for about 3 miles to the junction with California Highway 1.
    • The Point Reyes - Petaluma Road dead ends into Highway 1.
  7. Turn right on Highway 1.
  8. Follow Highway 1 for approximately 9 miles to Marshall.
    • You will pass by the Marshall Boat Works.
  9. Approximately 3 miles past Marshall you will see the sign for Miller Park & the entrance on your left.
  10. Turn left into the parking lot.
    • There is a $5 parking fee.
  11. Drive to the far end of the parking lot, away from the boat ramp.
    • You will see the boat trailer and our guides waiting for you.
  12. It takes about I hour from Highway 101 in Novato to the parking lot.

From Sonoma County & Petaluma

  1. From Highway 101 in Petaluma, take the East Washington exit.
  2. Follow East Washington through Petaluma, traveling 9 miles to Tomales Rd.
    • Washington turns into Bodega Ave.
    • You will drive well into the countryside. Enjoy the view!
    • Tomales Road is also marked as the Coast Guard Training Center.
  3. Turn left (west) on Tomales Rd and drive for 7 miles to the junction with Highway 1.
  4. Turn left onto Highway 1 and drive 3 miles south to Miller Park, also known as Nick¹s Cove.
  5. The turn into the parking lot comes up fast and is hidden by trees. As you are coming down the hill you will see on your right a building close to the road. This is Nick’s Cove and the Miller Park entrance is just before the building. 
    • Be prepared as this is a sharp right turn.
    • There is a $5 parking fee.
  6. Drive to the far end away from the boat ramp.  
    • You will see the boat trailer and our guides waiting for you.
  7. It takes about 30-40 minutes from Petaluma to our meeting spot.
