Padre Ramos Estuary & Nature Reserve
The Estero Padre Ramos Nature Reserve is one of the most ecologically important areas in Nicaragua with more than 200 species of birds, sea turtles, iguanas, conch, mollusks, and fish galore. This mangrove estuary is also one of the least discovered traveler’s destinations in Nicaragua…and a paradise for sea kayaking!
Day Tour - Itinerary
On this three to six hour tour, we will explore the water, land, and community of Padre Ramos. Meet our guides in the morning at the estero, where your gear and boats will be ready and waiting. After introductions and an overview of the day, you will receive some basic instruction on paddle skills, boat handling, and safety before we launch.
The pace and distance of our adventure will depend on your wishes. Learn about the natural and cultural history of the area, including the flora, fauna, geology, and history of Nicaragua. Refresh yourself in the cool waters of the Pacific, explore the mangroves, or hike on the beach for a spectacular vista of the open coast. Along the way, we will enjoy a picnic lunch prepared by the local community. Don’t worry…there will be plenty of time to rest and reinvigorate ourselves in this unique destination.
