How do I travel to Nicaragua? You should arrange your flight into Managua, Nicaragua. It costs around $600-$700 round-trip, and we will meet you at the airport. Don't forget your passport!
Do I need to buy travel insurance? We highly recommend it. It is ideal to be covered if your flight is cancelled or if you miss your plane. Many types of travel insurance also cover any medical emergencies you may experience while you are abroad.
Do I need to have experience sea kayaking? No. Our excursion in is perfect for adventure-seekers of every kind. You do not need to have any kayaking experience at all. In fact, we can teach you kayaking skills on our trip.if you have any concerns and we’ll be happy to assist you.
What do I need to bring with me? We highly encourage you to travel simply. All you will need to bring is your personal clothing, toiletries, a light-weight sleeping bag, personal items (book, journal, camera, medications) and an affinity for relaxation. We’ll take care of the rest!
Is it safe to travel in Nicaragua? Since the revolution of the 1970s,has become a safe and welcoming destination for travelers. According to Lonely Planet, “…the largest country in Central America is also one of the safest.” Travelers to any country should protect themselves from pickpockets and petty theft by leaving all valuables at home. Money should be carried in several secure locations, and travelers should stay aware of their belongings in all crowded, public places. Common sense will keep you safe and happy on any voyage abroad.
Do I need to take any medications or vaccines? You should talk to your physician regarding any prescriptions or medications you may want to bring with you to Nicaragua. The Center for Disease Control recommends that you take an anti-malarial drug such as chlorquine in Central America. You may also find herbal remedies to protect you from malaria, bacteria, and viruses abroad. This is a very personal decision, and should only be made with the help of your doctor.
What is the weather like in Nicaragua? January, February, March, and April is summertime in Nicaragua, with clear blue skies and warm days in the 80s. In the evenings, it cools down to a "balmy" 70-75 degrees. This is a perfect respite from your winter blues!
What is for dinner? Here's one idea. We can enjoy fresh-caught fish, beans, rice, salad, and plantains; fresh juice, miel de jocote, and cheese. Your appetite will be satisfied with local and fresh foods, fused with some comfortable favorites from home. (We can accommodate many dietary requirements, but please bring any snacks that you just can't live without!)
